Meet Irena Sendler (1910-2008)
She was a 98 year-old Polish woman at her time of death. During World War II, Irena worked in the Warsaw Ghetto as a plumbing/sewer specialist. She dedicated herself to smuggling Jewish children out. Infants were carried in the bottom of the tool box she used and older children in a burlap sack she had in the back of her truck.
She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids’ and infants’ noises. Irena managed to smuggle out and save 2500 children during this time
She eventually was caught and the Nazis broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and in a glass jar buried under a tree in her backyard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived and reunited some of the families but most had been killed. She then helped those children get placement into foster family homes or adopted.
In 2007, Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected… Al Gore won for presenting a slide show on Global Warming.
She is a true hero. R.I.P.

The best mornings are the ones where you wake up with your friends and go out for breakfast without changing out of pjs or fixing makeup.
Who’s gonna judge, anyways? I mean, it’s comfy, and awesomely lazy, and you get a good laugh. You just have to be fearless enough against people around you that you don’t know who may or may not give you funny looks.
Anyway, what’s the worst that they can do, huh? Give you the stink eye, and that’s about it. You can give it right back to them. If someone decides that they have balls and actually ask you about you’re lazy attire, you can turn it right back and ask them why they’re so dressed up for Mcdicks (or wherever else you might be).
I’ve done it before, so has Jazz, and it’s pretty great. We’ve got the balls the size of Volkswagens.

Remember back when we were all young, back when we were just beginning to learn our Maths; what an addition sign was, a subtraction sign, and what division and multiplication were? 
I can. And I also remember the times when my eyes would gaze upon the Maths coursework of grade 12 students. I remember not being able to comprehend a single part of any of it. Mixing numbers and letters (and weird things that looked like the doodles constantly scrawled in the margins of my pages) was scary stuff. Why would people do that?? How could people understand it?
Thankfully, as I grew older, I realised that it was only scary because I didn’t know about it. I still had to learn.
Well, I’m older and I am wiser, and I’ve been taught every last things that I saw on that grade 12 Maths blackboard.
And I still don’t understand any of it.
But here’s a question for you; when did Maths stop being about numbers and start being about lines and dots scattered across a page of graph paper? I couldn’t possible tell you. I’m thinking around the time when letters and shapes were mixed into the equation (literally!).
